Wallenberg’s syndrome is a neurological condition caused by a stroke in the vertebral or posterior inferior cerebellar artery of the brain stem. Symptoms include difficulties with swallowing, hoarseness, dizziness, nausea and vomiting, rapid involuntary movements of the eyes (nystagmus), and problems with balance and gait coordination. Wallenberg syndrome is a rare condition in which an infarction, or stroke, occurs in the lateral medulla. The lateral medulla is a part of the brain stem. Oxygenated blood doesn’t get to this part Lateral Medullary Syndrome (Wallenberg Syndrome) According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, Wallenberg Syndrome (aka Lateral Medullary Syndrome or Posterior Inferior Cerebellar Artery Syndrome) is a neurological condition caused by a blockage of the vertebral artery (VA) or posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA), ultimately leading to infarction of the lateral medulla. Wallenberg syndrome, also known as lateral medullary syndrome or Wallenberg’s syndrome, is a condition that affects the nervous system.

Wallenberg syndrome includes a series of symptoms caused by le-sions in medulla oblongata. It usually occurs in patients with obstruction of the vertebral artery, posterior infer-ior cerebellar artery (PICA) or lateral modularly arteries. So far there has been no report focusing on VM diag-nosed concurrently with Wallenberg syndrome. In this This topic will review the major clinical syndromes associated with posterior circulation ischemia related to stenosis or occlusion of the large aortic arch, neck, and intracranial arteries. These arteries are the innominate and subclavian arteries in the chest, the vertebral arteries in the neck, and the intracranial vertebral, basilar, and posterior cerebral arteries.
